Club Med Kiroro Peak, Hokkaido, is shaped by the silence of its setting, where a vast, quiet landscape of pristine snow naturally slows the pulse. Designed as a sophisticated reset for an adult audience, the resort departs from urban density to shift focus toward restoration in the rhythm of mountain life. This journey begins with a deliberate psychological transition via a lenticular artwork at the entrance. As guests move past, the piece transforms from a bustling city scene into a serene, snow-filled horizon, signaling the transition into a calmer landscape.
Inside, the design unfolds through a study in contrast, where the sharp, intellectual lines of Japanese high fashion are set against the warmth of a classic Alpine lodge. Interiors are grounded in local Ainu culture through close collaboration with Japanese artisans, with traditional patterns and tactile materials woven directly into the architecture. Cultural references are structural and authentic, embedded within the design rather than applied as surface detail. The result is a continuous dialogue between French elegance and Japanese precision. Club Med Kiroro Peak is a sanctuary where bold architectural expression meets a spirit of calm.

“Japanese avant-garde fashion, designers like Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons, and Junya Watanabe, has always inspired me for its architectural influence and its willingness to push against convention and dogma. We blended that spirit with the warmth you find in a mountain lodge, elevated through Japanese craftsmanship and refined wood detailing.”
